The Borgias is a new TV series which tells the story of Rodrigo Borgia and his family as he becomes The Pope in Rome in the 1500s. The show stars Jeremy Irons in the lead role and Neil Jordon serves as producer along with writing and directing. The Borgias airs on Sundays on Showtime in the US and on Bravo in Canada.

Archer Season 2 (02:20 – 14:38)
If you don’t know already, Archer is an animated show on FX about secret agent Sterling Archer who works for an organization known as ISIS. We had looked at Season 1 on a previous episode and it was one of our favorites of 2010. The second season premiered on January 27 on FX and also airs on Teletoon in Canada.
Doritos Crash Course (14:47 – 28:36)
Developed by Wanako Games, this game was a finalist in the 2010 “Unlock Xbox” competition for 2010 sponsored by Doritos. The game sees you take your Xbox avatar thorough an obstacle course akin to Wipeout or other similar game shows. The game is available as a free download on the Xbox Live Arcade.
Harm’s Way (28:37 – 44:02)
Harm’s Way was also a finalist in Unlock Xbox competition. This game sees you race your car around a track while your partner uses a turret to take out your opponents and shoot various objects in the environment. This game is also available in the Xbox Live Arcade as a free download.
This week we took a bit of a different approach to our regular show format. Rather than our normal round-table reviews, everyone brought something in that they had played or watched recently. With that we’re looking at two different games for the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo DS, a recent DVD release and a pair a television comedies.

Nude Nuns with Big Guns (02:59 – 14:18)
Kev brings us this exploitation, grindhouse style film involving nuns who possess large weaponry and the desire show off said fire power, well, in the nude. I’ll leave it to Kev to give you the plot analysis but honestly with that kinda title you can probably guess that plot isn’t super important.
Call of Duty Black Ops (14:35 – 25:37)
Andrew brings us his take on the Xbox 360 version of the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise. Developed by Treyarch, the same developers of 2008′s World at War, this title was a huge hit over the recent holiday season is also available for just about every other platform including the PS3, the Wii, the PC and the DS.
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (25:55 – 33:51)
Kevin also brings us a 2008 title designed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The game is turn based where the objective is to get your units to capture the enemies headquarters or simply wipe them out completely.
Louie (34:19 – 39:10)
Bill brings in a pair of TV shows starting with Louie. Written, directed by and starring Louis CK, the first season originally aired on FX back in the summer. The show has already been renewed for a second season although a start date hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.
The Ricky Gervais Show (39:11 – 42:35)
The second show is HBO’s Ricky Gervais Show. The show is an animated version of the podcasts that Ricky has recorded with Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington. The first season is available on DVD and Season 2 begins on HBO and HBO Canada this Friday, January 14.
This week not only do we celebrate 100 episodes of Verbal Brew goodness, but we also go back and revisit the year that was 2010. We take a look at the year in films, TV and video games along with any thing else that struck our fancy this year. And we also take some time to remember some of the worst which we looked at that inspire many of the profanity laced rants that you’ve all come to know and love. Happy New Year and see you in 2011!
