We’re a little late with this week’s show but we’ve got lots to cover. We follow up last week’s look at the original Tron with the new sequel Tron Legacy. We also have a game review with Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii. We wrap things up by taking a peek at the new DVD release of the animated film Despicable Me.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Tron Legacy (02:12 – 31:35)
Almost 30 years after the original, Tron Legacy continues the original as the son of Kevin Flynn traveling into the same virtual world in search of his father. Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner return for the sequel along with Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.
Donkey Kong Country Returns (31:49 – 39:22)
Following Up the 1994 (holy crap I feel old) original, Donkey Kong Country Returns is the latest Donkey Kong centric game this time for the Nintendo Wii. Developed by Retro Studios, the game sees you lead Donkey and Diddy Kong through this 2D (2.5D even) side-scroller platformer.
Despicable Me (39:29 – 50:14)
Originally released in theatres back in the summer, Despicable Me was released on DVD and Blu-ray last week. Featuring the voice talents of Steve Carell, Jason Segel and Russell Brand, the story focuses on the super villain Gru as he tries to steal the moon.

On this week’s podcast we take a look at the first half of Fringe’s third season and a pair of movies. The first film is 1982′s Tron and the recent theatrical release, Skyline.
Fringe Season 3 (01:33 – 11:51)
With Fringe heading into the Christmas break, we decided to take a look back at the first half of Season 3. Take a listen to see what we thought of this season so far and how we think the rest of the season may play out. Season 3 resumes on Friday January 21.
Tron (12:32 – 32:35)
With Tron Legacy hitting theaters this weekend, we decided to go back and revisit the 1982 original film. Starring Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, the film sees Kevin Flynn (Bridges) being abducted into the Master Control computer system to be forced to participate in numerous video games.
Skyline (32:55 – 53:35)
Produced and directed by the Brothers Strause, Skyline is a story about several people trapped in an apartment complex while aliens have descended on numerous cities and started making a general mess of things. The two Strause brothers, normally known for their special effects work, were able to produce this film for only 10 million dollars. Check out our review to see if their money was well spent.

This past weekend was the annual Toronto Fan Expo featuring a number of panels and events dedicated to Sci-Fi, horror and comic books. There were a number of celebrity panels featuring Dean Stockwell, James Marsters, Summer Glau, Stan Lee, Tahmoh Penikett and a whole pile more.
I’ll have more to say on the upcoming podcast, but in the meantime here are some of the photos that I snapped over the course of the three day conference. More photos and video to come.
