    June 15, 2011 by Bill

    Red Faction Armageddon review

This week on the podcast we take a look at the new J.J. Abrams film Super 8 and Red Faction: Armageddon for the Xbox 360.

    Super 8 (01:12 – 20:15)

Directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, Super 8 tells the story of a group of kids that are making their own zombie movie and inadvertently capture a train derailment on film. The story takes place in 1979 and also attempts to capture the essence of a number of 80′s films including ones directed by Spielberg himself.

    Red Faction: Armageddon (20:27 – 43:05)

Developed byVolition, Inc., Armageddon is the fourth game in the Red Faction series and the follow up to Red Faction: Guerrilla. It’s now 50 years later and you play as Darius Mason, grandson of Guerrilla’s protagonist, Alec Mason, who attempts to save the colonists of Mars from attacking Martian creatures.

    Aban Hawkins & the 1000 SPIKES (43:06 – 55:50)

Developed by 8bits Fanatics, Aban Hawkins is an 8 bit indie game on the Xbox Live Arcade. The game sees you traverse various caves and attempt to avoid traps with 1000 lives (yup you heard me) at your disposal.

    Red Factions Battleground

Oh happy day! Its time for a new podcast. This week we take a look at a pair of new downloadable games, Rush’N Attack and Red Faction: Battlegrounds. And a very, very, very, very quick look at Scream 4.

    Rush’n Attack: Ex-Patriot (01:12 – 13:19)

Rush’n Attack: Ex-Patriot is a sequel to the original Rush’n Attack from way back in 1985. This 2D/2 and a half D downloadable game is available on the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.

    Red Faction: Battlegrounds (13:40 – 21:35)

While we’re waiting for next month’s Red Faction: Armageddon, the sequel to Red Faction Guerrilla, we’ve got this new downloadable game to help fill the void. The game is available on both the PlayStation Network and the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

    Scream 4 (21:40 – 22:46)

And Vern gives us the fastest review in history for Scream 4. One minute and six seconds to be exact.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

LucasArts has released a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 a little earlybefore next week’s E3 conference . Starkiller is back as Vader’s apprentice but it looks like they’re on opposing ends this time. The trailer doesn’t show any actual game-play but it does give some hints as to what direction the story is headed. It’s currently scheduled to be released October 26, 2010.
