On this week’s podcast we review the new film Hobo with a Shotgun, the new downloadable game Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime and Andrew jumps in with a look at Hoard for the PSP.
Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime is a top down four player game where you play as part of a new crew of Ghostbusters who, well…, bust ghosts. The game is currently available on the Xbox Live Arcade, on PSN for the PlayStation 3 and for Windows.
Hobo with a Shotgun (17:57 – 35:12)
The original trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun was originally shown as one of several fake trailers, along with Machete, during screenings of Grindhouse. Fast forward a few years and now its evolved into a full length film starring Rutger Hauer. The film opened in Canada on March 25 but will be available via On Demand on April 1 and hits theaters in the US on May 6.
Hoard (35:30 – 41:44)
Andrew shares some thoughts on the downloadable game Hoard for the PSP. It’s developed by Vancouver’s Big Sandwich Games and is also available for the PS3, Windows and Mac.
On the podcast this week we’re looking at three different games; Ghost Trick, A Space Shooter…for 2 Bucks and Dead Space Extraction. Plus we also have a review of the Transformers comic series, All Hail Megatron.
Released earlier this month for the Nintendo DS, Ghost Trick tells the story of a man who wakes up to realize he’s just died… and he’s found a talking lamp. Developed by Capcom, Ghost Trick is also available on iOS.
A Space Shooter…for 2 Bucks (22:53 – 32:27)
Developed by Frima Studios, this game, as the title suggests, is a space shooter available for the low price of two dollars. Kev takes a look at this game on the PSP but it is also available on the PlayStation Network on the PS3.
Dead Space Extraction (32:36 – 41:20)
Developed by Visceral Games, Dead Space Extraction is the prequel to the original Dead Space. This version is much different from the original game in that it is a first person rail shooter rather than a third person shooter. The game is currently available exclusively on the Wii but will also be bundled with the PS3 version of Dead Space 2.
All Hail Megatron (41:48 – 76:32)
Lastly we take a look at a 2008 Transformers comic series published by IDW. This 16 issue series sees the Decepticons cause havoc in many of earth’s major cities while the Autobots are trapped on Cybertron.
On the podcast this week we take a look at two movies currently getting a lot of award buzz, The Fighter and True Grit. Plus Andrew and Kevin do a DS vs PSP showdown as they review an older entry from the Grand Theft Auto series, Chinatown Wars.
Starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, The Fighter is based on the true story of boxers Mickey Ward and his brother Dicky. Micky’s career is on the rise and Dicky is trying to make a comeback while maintaining a nasty crack habit. Check our review to see is it is indeed a contender for this year’s award season.
True Grit (18:09 – 30:50)
Another film garnering buzz this year is the Coen Brother’s True Grit. The film sees the Coen’s return to more darker subject matter while working within the western genre. Starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, the film is based on the 1968 novel of the same name.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (31:25 – 48:23)
Released back in 2009, Chinatown Wars is an entry in the Grand Theft Auto series designed specifically for the portable gaming platforms. Kev looked at the game on the DS while Andrew looked at it on the PSP. The game now also has an iOS version available.
This week on the podcast we look at a couple of recently released films, Ninja Assassin and Crazy Heart. As well Andrew gives us some thoughts on the latest release in the Socom franchise for the PSP.
Ninja Assassin (01:50 – 16:57)
Crazy Heart (17:08 – 32:29)
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 (32:43 – 39:59)
