On this week’s podcast we take a look at this summer’s third Marvel super hero movie, Captain America: The First Avenger as well as the film Cowboys and Aliens.
Captain America: The First Avenger (01:28 – 19:14)
Captain America: The First Avenger is the origin story of Steve Rogers, a volunteer for a military experiment that turns him into a super soldier. The film is directed by Joe Johnston and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones.
Cowboys and Aliens (19:27 – 43:27)
Cowboys and Aliens is about a man who wakes up in the desert in 1873 to discover aliens are abducting the local residents and he has a piece of alien technology attached to his arm. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, First Class is the latest film in the X-Men franchise. The story goes back to the 1960′s during the Cuban Missile Crisis to show the early relationship between Professor X and Magneto and the birth of the X-Men.
Mighty Fin (25:01 – 30:12)
Mighty Fin is a game that sees you play as Fin, a fish on vacation who really enjoys nabbing some gold coins and dislikes Jellyfish and Sharks. The game was developed by Launching Pad games and is available for the iPod Touch and the iPhone.
On this week’s podcast we take a look at the latest Marvel DVD release Thor: Tales of Asgard, along with a new downloadable game for the Xbox 360, Outland.
Thor: Tales of Asgard is the latest straight to DVD release from Marvel. In this story, a young Thor accompanied by his brother Loki, head off on a journey to find the lost Sword of Surtur.
Outland (15:24 – 38:49)
Developed by Housemarque and published by Ubisoft, Outland is a 2D platformer that sees you switch between red and blue colors in order to combat enemies and avoid traps. The game is only available via download for the Xbox 360 but it will also soon be available on the PSN network.
Hector: Badge of Carnage is an episodic point-and-click adventure game brought to us by Telltale Games. You play as Hector, a detective acting as a negotiator during a hostage crisis. The first episode, We Negotiate with Terrorists, is available now for Mac and PC with the second and third episode scheduled for release this fall.
Thor (16:06 – 40:26)
Thor is the latest Marvel comic to get the big screen treatment as they get ready for next year’s release of The Avengers. The story sees Thor banished from his home on Asgard by his father Odin to Earth. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the film has a large ensemble cast including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.
