This week on the podcast we’ve got reviews of the DVD release of The Last Airbender, the first five issues of G.I. Joe Hearts and Minds and the video game for Toy Story 3.
Based on the popular animated series of the same name, The Last Airbender is the latest from writer/director M. Night Shyamalan. Released last summer the movie didn’t receive a lot of positive reviews but we decided to give it a look now that it’s available on DVD and Blu-ray.
G.I. Joe Hearts and Minds (17:59 – 33:22)
Back in March at Toronto Comic Con, I spoke with Max Brooks who spoke about the upcoming G.I. Joe comic series he was working on. Eight months later we’ve taken a look at the first five issues of the series. Each book tells two short stories focusing on two different characters; one from Cobra and one from G.I. Joe. G.I. Joe Hearts and Minds is published by IDW publishing.
Toy Story 3 game (33:30 – 43:10)
Kev and Andrew take a look at the game for Toy Story 3. Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive, is a platformer that takes the characters through the story of last summer’s film. The game is available on all the major systems and platforms but we looked at it on the Xbox 360.
I got a chance to sit down briefly with author Max Brooks last weekend at Toronto Comic Con. We discussed the research he did when writing World War Z and the casting choices for the audio book version as well as the possible upcoming film. We also discussed other projects he’s been working on, specifically the The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks book along with the upcoming GI Joe: Hearts and Minds series.
