1. Crusin’ The Trailer Park – Transformers, GI Joe, Resident Evil, District 9 & more

    May 2, 2009 by Bill

    Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Giant robots beating the ever-loving shit out of each other. SOLD!

    Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

This is coming out for the Wii in 2010 and is a sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles. Apparently this is a rail shooter with the story taking place around the same time as Resident Evil 2.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

I dunno about this one. I REALLY want it be good but I have my doubts. Christopher Eccleston as Destro? Awesome. Accelerator suits that make everyone look the same? Lame. Darth Maul as Snake Eyes? Sweet. Marlon freaking Wayans?? Shouldn’t he be busy with White Chicks 2 or something??!! I find it curious that we haven’t seen Joseph Gordon-Levitt appear in any trailers yet. I’m really hoping that they’re saving a suprise that will blow us all away. Forgive me if I don’t hold my breath.

    District 9

This is the directorial debut for Neill Blomkamp who’s most famously known for having almost directed the Halo movie that fell through. I won’t say anything more about this one because there’s a great twist to it.

Army of Two: The 40th Day

We had just looked at the original game a couple of weeks ago on the podcast and now a sequel has been announced for Winter 2009. I really appreciated some of the humor that was in the original  but this one so far seems to have a much more serious tone. Can’t wait to try this one out.

  2. Crusin’ The Trailer Park – Dead Rising 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Arkham Asylum & Disturbing Strokes

    April 28, 2009 by Bill

    Dead Rising 2

Just a few weeks back on the podcast, we were discussing the rumors of Dead Rising 2. And now we have a new official trailer! This time we have a new lead character, Chuck Greene,  and a new location, Fortune City. And apparently some new and creative ways to use weapons too; IE: the 2 chainsaws attached to  a motorcycle -  looks definitely appealing. You can check out our thoughts on the first game for both the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

    Marvel vs. Capcom 2

A few episodes ago, a couple of the guys had a chance to discuss Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Well now it looks like we’re getting a sequel this summer to the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. I didn’t have a chance to check out the original Marvel vs. Capcom, and to be honest after Street Fighter IV I’m not sure how excited I am about this one, but I’ll certainly give this one a run up the flag poll.

Batman: Arkham Asylum – Harley Quinn Trailer

As the new Batman: Arkham Asylum game gets closer to launch, we’re seeing some new character videos coming out providing us some more insight into the game. I can’t wait to get my hands on this as it certainly has the potential to be great.

    Disturbing Strokes

And finally, I leave you with a bit of a different take on a classic sitcom. It always fascinates me how much of an impact the musical score can have to a visual medium. It pretty much speaks for itself so take a peek…

Ok, in case you have an urge to hear the original, I give you Dave Chappelle, John Mayer and Questlove!

  3. Crusin’ The Trailer Park – Bionic Commando, Green Lantern, Turkish Rambo and the sweeter side of Benjamin Linus

    April 20, 2009 by Bill

    Bionic Commando

I really enjoyed Bionic Commando Rearmed from last year and the thoughts of the same game play now in a 3D environment have me all tingly inside. This trailer gives a good look at said game play and what the wide variety of environments will look like. I’m personally not sold on the dreadlocks but the game itself looks cool. If you head over to Game Trailers they have a video that takes a further in depth look at the game play.

    Green Lantern: First Flight

There have been a slew of direct to DVD movies for both DC and Marvel properties as of late. And now its Green Lantern’s turn. This looks to be an origin story which would be good for people like me who haven’t read a Green Lantern book in years and barely remember all the history. This may be a good preface to the Green Lantern film that’s rumored to be in production.

    Rampage

Known also as “Turkish Rambo”, this film was originally released back in 1986. And this week it finally sees its DVD release. There’s not much more for me to say, it kinda speaks for itself.

    Interview with Michael Emerson

With a few spare hours and a willing audience, I’d gladly wax poetic on why Lost is the best TV show in the history of ever. And one of the reason’s for its success is the character of Benjamin Linus, who in my opinion is one of the more unique and captivating charters in TV or film. So when Michael Emerson, the actor behind Mr. Linus, stopped by Jimmy Fallon the other night, Jimmy had him do what only seemed natural for a guy who plays a creepy insane sociopath – read nursery rhymes.

  4. Crusin’ the Trailer Park – Hunter Prey, Moon and Bioshock 2

    April 12, 2009 by Bill

We got a new weekly column here at Verbal Brew, Crusin’ the Trailer Park. We’ll  look at some of the coolest movie and game trailers and videos that have come out in the last week. Anyway, enough of my jibber-jabber, let’s giv’er.

    Hunter Prey

This film is brought to us by Sandy Collora whose most widely known project is the fan film, Batman: Dead End. I think this looks great given the extremely low budget and I’m definitely curious to see some more.
