1. New Trailers – Dexter Season 6 and The Walking Dead Season 2

    July 26, 2011 by Bill

A pair of trailers for two critically acclaimed TV shows were released within the last week. Let’s take a look, shall we?

The Walking Dead – Season 2

After a successful first season, The Walking Dead returns for it’s sophomore season this fall. One of the things that I appreciated about the first season was that the zombie outbreak was not so much the focus of the show but that we dealt more with the group of characters surviving in this situation. In this trailer, it seems that the group begins to splinter as the events that they’ve endured have begun to take their toll. And as we see at the end of the trailer, we will at some point get a look at the Greene farm. It was also announced today that Frank Darabont has stepped down from his role as series show runner so we’ll have to see what effect this will have on the second season as it is still filming. The second season premieres on AMC on October 16.

    Dexter – Season 6

In my opinion, Dexter is a show that has had some great seasons and at one time was one of the better show on television. But with 5 seasons under it’s belt, it should really think about setting an end date. What was once a cutting edge show has now become predictable and has a premise that is becoming less and less believable. With that said, I do have to admit that this is a well put together trailer and it could mean that there is some life left in the series – pun fully intended. This year sees the additions of Edward James Olmos, Collin Hanks and Mos Def to the cast. The new season premieres on Showtime on October 2.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

LucasArts has released a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 a little earlybefore next week’s E3 conference . Starkiller is back as Vader’s apprentice but it looks like they’re on opposing ends this time. The trailer doesn’t show any actual game-play but it does give some hints as to what direction the story is headed. It’s currently scheduled to be released October 26, 2010.

  3. Crusin the Trailer Park – Halo 3 ODST, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Gay Tony

    Halo 3 ODST

This trailer has absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay or anything about the game for that matter. But personally, I’m now excited as hell to check this out. While I liked Halo 3 a lot, it still kind of felt like something I had already played before. Retelling the story from the ODST’s perspective could a unique way to shake the franchise up.  And just how bad ass could this look as a full length film?

    Assassin’s Creed 2

We’re going to be looking at Assassin’s Creed 1 in a future episode of the podcast but in the meantime we’re getting a look at what part 2 could look like. The music choice isn’t something I wouldn’t picked but I gotta admit its pretty damn sweet. And hang gliding? Yes please!

GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony

I’m digging these expansion pack releases that Rockstar is doing for GTA IV. It expands on the already expansive universe of the game but doesn’t charge us $60 a pop each time a new one comes out. In this episode, you play as Luis Lopez who works as a body guard for Gay Tony, an operator of a couple of nightclubs in Liberty City. No word on what new gameplay features are going to be introduced but I do see me some parachutes! Thie episode will be available October 29 a download on Xbox Live Arcade or as part of the Episodes from Liberty City bundle.

  4. Cruisin the Trailer Park – Avatar, The Wolfman and Inception

    Avatar

So after what feels like an endless amount of hype, we’re getting the first teaser trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar which comes out this Christmas. And along with the hype comes the idea that is will be like nothing we’re ever seen before and minds will be blown and the all the hungry will be fed and cancer will be cured. So is it that good? Well no but then I wonder if anything would have lived up to the several years of anticipation and the collective hyperbole of the blogosphere. That being said, I did get a chance to see this on a proper movie screen yesterday and it does look pretty damn good. I also suspect that since this is only a teaser that there is much more to see in the final finished product.
