1. New Trailers for The Avengers, Game of Thrones, G.I. Joe and Drive

    The Avengers

“I have an army. We have a Hulk.” Yes. Now. Please.

Game of Thrones – Season 2

A teaser trailer has been released to give us a taste of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. This season is based on the second novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Clash of Kings. The second season begins on April 1 on HBO.

    G.I. Joe Retaliation

I can’t say I’m personally excited for another G.I. Joe film. However they seem to be attempting to right the wrongs of the previous film. Most of the cast from the last film is gone and a new group of Joes have signed on including The Rock and Bruce Willis. The film is currently scheduled to open June 29.

    Drive

To celebrate this week’s DVD and Blu-Ray release of the film, the opening seven minutes of the film have been released online to preview for those of you who haven’t caught the film yet. Drive was one of our favorites of last year here at Verbal Brew HQ and we’d definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t done so already.

  2. New Trailers – Dexter Season 6 and The Walking Dead Season 2

    July 26, 2011 by Bill

A pair of trailers for two critically acclaimed TV shows were released within the last week. Let’s take a look, shall we?

The Walking Dead – Season 2

After a successful first season, The Walking Dead returns for it’s sophomore season this fall. One of the things that I appreciated about the first season was that the zombie outbreak was not so much the focus of the show but that we dealt more with the group of characters surviving in this situation. In this trailer, it seems that the group begins to splinter as the events that they’ve endured have begun to take their toll. And as we see at the end of the trailer, we will at some point get a look at the Greene farm. It was also announced today that Frank Darabont has stepped down from his role as series show runner so we’ll have to see what effect this will have on the second season as it is still filming. The second season premieres on AMC on October 16.

    Dexter – Season 6

In my opinion, Dexter is a show that has had some great seasons and at one time was one of the better show on television. But with 5 seasons under it’s belt, it should really think about setting an end date. What was once a cutting edge show has now become predictable and has a premise that is becoming less and less believable. With that said, I do have to admit that this is a well put together trailer and it could mean that there is some life left in the series – pun fully intended. This year sees the additions of Edward James Olmos, Collin Hanks and Mos Def to the cast. The new season premieres on Showtime on October 2.

  3. Photos from Toronto Comic Con 2011

    March 28, 2011 by Bill

The 2011 edition of Toronto ComicCon took place last weekend. I got the chance to attend a number of panels with different actors including Julie Benz (Dexter, No Ordinary Family), Billy Dee Williams, Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead) and Arron Douglas and Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica).

Plans are already under way for the 2012 edition of the Con. It is currently scheduled for Mar 23-25, 2012.

  4. Thor, Dead Island and Girl Walks into a Bar – Cruisin’ the Trailerpark

    February 19, 2011 by Bill

It’s been awhile since we’ve stopped by the old trailer-park but we’ve got three new ones to look at this week. We’ve got the second official trailer for Thor, the announcement of the game Dead Island and the trailer for the new film Girl Walks into a Bar.

    Thor – Trailer # 2

Marvel’s released the second official trailer for Thor this week. This trailer shows a lot of new material and a good mix of scenes between Earth and Asgard. I’d really be happy is this turns out to be an amazing film to keep up with the standard of some other Marvel properties. However I have a feeling this might be more Iron Man 2 than Iron Man 1. As long as it’s not Fantastic Four bad. The film comes out on May 6.

    Dead Island

A lot of fuss has been made about this one this week. Don’t get me wrong, I think as a stand alone trailer it’s fantastic. But without seeing any in-game footage it’s impossible to tell if the game itself will live up to all the hype. And I enjoy removing zombie heads with an ax as much as the next guy but I’m officially zombied out.

    Girl Walks into a Bar

Given the cast of this film and the multiple story threads that we see in the trailer, this looks somewhat interesting on it’s own. But what’s different about this film is that it won’t be at your local cineplex but will be shown for free exclusively on YouTube. Lexus has signed on as a sponsor which presumably help with the cost but no word yet if there will be any other associated advertising with the film. The film’s writer/director, Sebastian Gutierrez, hopes to prove that the web can be a viable distribution model for smaller indie films with lower budgets. The film will be available on YouTube March 11.
